The Inter-American Economic Council's 2004 Winter Gala will recognize a public servant who has done the most to promote public/private sector cooperation for economic growth and development in the countries of the Western Hemisphere.

The recipient of this award is Mr. Gustavo Cisneros, Chairman and CEO of the Cisneros Group of Companies. The Council is honoring Mr. Cisneros for his sterling record of leadership at the helm of the Cisneros Group promoting excellence in entertainment, information and educational programming in broadcast and pay television, and new media platforms in the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking world. The Council admires Mr. Cisneros' accomplishments and leadership in establishing the Fundación Cisneros to champion cultural, environmental and social development programs for the global Iberoamerican community. During his career he has consistently sought to create an environment where business and government can work together in meaningful ways for the betterment of society. The Council seeks to create a forum in which effective policy making is made by the public and private sectors working together. Mr. Cisneros' life's work parallels the Council's Mission.

There will also be a silent auction promoting the best of World Travel its mountains, its beaches, its cuisine, its hotel resorts and its people. We will also feature private tours of museums, embassy dinners and receptions, and other exciting surprises.
