THE INTER AMERICAN ECONOMIC COUNCIL (COUNCIL) IN COLLABORATION WITH THE INTER-AMERICAN DEVELOPMENT BANK (IADB) ORGANIZED A RECEPTION FOLLOWING THE WHITE HOUSE CONFERENCE ON THE AMERICAS.
WASHINGTON, July 10, 2007 -- The Inter American Economic Council (Council) in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) organized a Reception following the White House Conference on the Americas. Speakers at the Reception included Thomas Shannon, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State, Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, Ambassador Luis Alberto Moreno, President of the Inter-American Development Bank, Barry Featherman, President of the Inter-American Economic Council and Pedro Tinoco, President of the Cisneros Foundation.
The Reception followed the White House Conference on the Americas which was held under the theme of Advancing the Cause of Social Justice. Council President Barry Featherman participated in the day long discussions that brought together NGOs from throughout the Hemisphere who engaged in dialogues with the President and First Lady of the United States and Members of the Cabinet including the Secretaries of Treasury, Commerce, Education, Health and Human Services and State.
