FEATHERMAN ADDRESSES LEADERSHIP FORUM IN
ISTANBUL, TURKEY


Istanbul: Council President & CEO, Barry Featherman, Esq. joined Mrs. Harriet Fulbright and other distinguished leaders at Bahcesehir University's 6th Global Leadership Forum in Istanbul, Turkey held June 24-27, 2004.

Featherman's address, entitled Economic Leadership: Essential Elements in Creating the Proper Conditions for Development., highlighted four areas that developing countries need to concentrate on to achieve their full potential: (1) a greater strengthening of democratic institutions, (2) greater transparency in regulatory regimes, (3)a need to have effective policies to combat corruption and (4) a willingness to fully commit themselves to legal reforms that promote the rule of law.

The 6th Global Leadership Forum was presented by the University of Bahcesehir, and sponsored by UNESCO, The World Bank, and the Center for Creative Leadership. Keynote speakers included Harriet Fulbright, Former Clinton Administration Appointee and Goodwill Ambassador for the Fulbright Program and Mr. Djordjija Petkoski from The World Bank, Washington. Conference themes include Humane Governance, Institutional, National and International; Corporate Social Responsibility and the Private Sector; and Inter-Cultural Cooperation and Capacity Building.
